In my opinion, The Beatles had good songs, great songs and outstanding songs (exluding Revolution 9). Here, I have listed 20 of The Beatles' outstanding songs. The songs are in no partticular order.

  1) A Day In The Life

This song, for its time, was unbelieveably creative. It was one of the first songs to feature a lot of different stages. Great songs like Led Zepplin's "Stairway To Heaven" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" have followed in its footsteps. It was the most creative Beatles song of 1967 - an extremely creative year.

  2) If I Fell

Along with Because, Yes It Is, and This Boy, If I Fell was one of The Beatles great harmony songs. The harmonic display of John and Paul is absolutely stunning, and is, in my opinion, the best song on A Hard Day's Night.

  3) In My Life

This song is in the Beatles "great songs" category, until it hits the magnificent beroche style piano riff, which creates an unprecedented atmosphere in rock and roll.

  4) The Abbey Road Medly

The Beatles decided to make the B-Side of their last album to be a medly of unfinished songs, and it turned out perfectly. The repeat of "You Never Give Me Your Money" after "Carry That Weight" is a brilliant touch, and a stunning ending featuring a brilliantly precise drum solo, and the best Beatles guitar solo according to our poll, really demonstrates The Beatles' genius.

  5) Hey Jude

The first of many of Paul's beautiful ballads that you will see on this list. Written for Julian, this is probably The Beatles' most famous song after "Yesterday".

  6) She Loves You

This was the first Beatles song that absolutely blew its audience away. It flew straight to the top of the charts, and rightly so. It showed John and Paul's fabulous ability to write great songs together.

  7) Here, There and Everywhere

This song is Paul at his ballading best. It is a beautiful melody. It has a soft and silky quality that no other Beatles song succeeds in developing. I believe this is probably Paul's best song.

  8) I Am The Walrus

John's only song on Magical Mystery Tour is a gem. It shows John's creativity and gives us a sample of his ability to make poetic nonsense sound good.

  9) The Long And Winding Road

Another one of Paul's great ballads. The orchestra in the backgroung gives a brilliant touch, and demonstrates The Beatles' versitility and flexibility.

  10) Yesterday

The Beatles' most famous, most redone, and most familiar tune is Yesterday. It is loved all around the world by everyone who has heard it. Even Paul loved it - so much in fact, that he didn't even think nit was his own!

  11) For No One

Another one of those Beatles songs that start off as "great songs" and then are interupted by a magical instrumental riff, in this case the french horn, and not once, but twice.

  12) Blackbird

This song creates a beautiful accoustic astmosphere which is topped off by a beautiful melody from Paul's sweet, mellow voice. The blackbird sound efffects cap off an outstanding song.

  13) Penny Lane

Here, Paul describes the merry "Penny Lane" with a beatutiful melody. The modulation which leads to the piccalo trumpet riff is absolutely magnificent.

  14) Strawberry Fields Forever

A typical 1967 John composition, which outlines his true sense of creativity and his poetic ability. It's no wonder this one was named best single ever released.

  15) I'll Follow The Sun

In this melodically beautiful song, Paul shows early signs of what is to come, with songs like Yesterday and Mother Nature's Son. This great song is capped off by an effective sliding guitar solo in the middle. Typical Paul.
